Follow the adventures of Baby Gaga as he explores (and eats!) his way through Boston/Cambridge and beyond...

Last Sunday Baby Gaga set foot in a McDonald’s for the first time in his life. He just had his first haircut, which was the perfect excuse to treat him to his first Shamrock Shake.

As you might recall, the Shamrock Shake is a *very* big deal in our family.

And from the picture above, you can see that Baby Gaga understood the significance of it from the moment he laid eyes on those cups of frothy green goodness.

He didn’t hesitate for a second to take his first sip.

We were worried he might get brain freeze, not having had many milkshakes before, but he frantically just kept sipping and sipping and sipping.

He couldn’t seem to decide if he preferred our family’s special concoction of half shamrock / half chocolate shake or the refined essence of the pure original. He actually climbed up onto the table and kept alternating between cups.
So I guess the verdict is still out. But I’m starting to think his indecisiveness might really just be a ploy to encourage at least one other taste test before the Shamrock Shake is gone for the season. That’s my boy!
I don’t plan on taking my son to eat at a McDonald’s anytime soon if I can help it. But taking him there for (a few sips of) a very important drink is a whole other story. If you haven’t connected the dots yet, maybe this will refresh your memory.

A boy needs his dairy, right?! And if you happened to read CNN earlier this week, then surely you saw the most exciting news story I’ve seen in a while: McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is currently available nationwide baby! You’re welcome.
While I hope to teach our son the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and eating right, I will admit there is one thing I plan to take him to McDonald’s for somewhat early on in life.
Behold the Shamrock Shake!

That’s more than just a cup of unnaturally green semi-liquid glop in our family. That is a symbol of something much greater. A sign that March has arrived and spring is just around the corner. A reminder that day of corned beef, cabbage, Irish soda bread and tea, which we indulge in once a year is just a couple more weeks away.
Both our families have instilled in us a love of tradition. We enjoy making each and every holiday, no matter how big or small, something special and fun to celebrate. I can’t wait to do the same with our son and start creating some of our own unique traditions with the first one being to officially declare March 1st Shamrock Shake Day in the Gaga Family!
*Please note Papa Gaga is actually enjoying his own creation of half chocolate + half shamrock shake to be more accurate. MmmMmM tastes like mint chocolate. We highly recommend!
